For my brithday a few months ago, my brothers gave me a gift certificate to a local store. I didn't have much time to think about what I was going to get, so I waited a while.
I went there the other day I saw that they had just gotten old hockey card boxes. They had two boxes of 1992-93 Upper Deck Hockey Series II. That's the box with Gordie Howe on it. The packs are made of golden foil.
When I was young, I was able to complete the Series I set, and started the second set. But I couldn't complete it. Honestly, I have very precise memories of me and one of my brothers sitting on the floor in the bedroom we were sharing, trying to complete the whole set.
We liked this set for many reasons:
- we thought the inserts were cool (Euro-Stars, Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe special subsets, holographic cards)
- the set had a lot of mini sets included in it, like trophy winners, world juniors, star rookies, young guns, paintings, etc.
- it had THE card every card wanted: the Alexandre Daigle rookie.
